“Her eyes grew wide, full of shock and fear. I could practically see the lie forming in her mind. I wanted to smile, but instead, I wrapped my hand around her throat.”

In her eyes, he would always be the same…

My Review

5 stars

That is what Diesel was and has now become. No longer there was the boy with incurable cancer and the love for a girl like no other. Maggie and Diesel were bullied in school. Diesel because he was dying and Maggie because she had a heart of gold and stood up for Diesel against the bullies. Along the way despite Diesel trying to push her away they fell in love. Maggie made a promise to Diesel to find a cure.

“He might be dead, but I made him a promise. I told him that I would try to help find a cure for his cancer. I wasn’t lying to him seven years ago, and I’m not going back on my word now. I understand your concerns, but I’m not doing anything wrong.”

Maggie worked for PGI Corp. it was the very company that she thought would help her one day keep the promise of finding a cure. The office was ran by the very same man who bullied Maggie and Diesel throughout school. His dad owned the company.

I loved how you got both perspectives of the story from Diesel (Killer) and Maggie. Both past and present of their lives. You get to feel along with them as they grew and fell in love. You get to feel what they felt when they had to say goodbye. You get to feel what Killer felt when all his memories come back. You really get the feel of what Killer has gone through to get where he is today.

You won’t be able to put this book down it is amazing. It really pulls you in and doesn’t let you out till it’s over. I can’t wait till the 2nd book in the series comes out. Great job J.L Beck!!! You made a forever fan out of me.
