Synopsis

In her delightful new novella, Georgia Bockoven brings readers back to the beloved beach house and the charming cottage next door…

What should have been the best day in Diana Wagnor’s twenty-nine years easily turns into the worst when her job is downsized, she discovers her fiancé in bed with her best friend, and she watches her cherished grandmother’s house burn to the ground.

Clearly it’s time to start over and get out of Topeka, Kansas, where she’s spent her whole life. But what should she do? And how does she ever trust herself in another relationship when her one indisputable skill seems to be picking the wrong man?

Diana finds her answers at the cottage next door to the beach house with the help of a tall, sculptured, soft-spoken Californian, and a heart-shaped piece of sea glass.

My Review

4 Stars

Diana needed a fresh start after the year she was having. She found out she lost her job after she thought she was getting a promotion, she caught her fiancé cheating on her with her best friend and the house she bought that was her grandmothers burnt down. So since her cousin was going on a trip she leaves the only home she has ever known and moves to California to stay at their cottage.

Before leaving Kanas she lined up a job with an art gallery.   When she met Michael she didn’t expect to like him but since she swore off men to focus on herself she concentrated on letting him show her around town.

Michael really liked Diana and felt bad for all the trouble he was bringing her into at the gallery. With the possibility of the art gallery closing after a longtime employee embezzled money from them by not paying their accounts he is afraid she will leave town. So Michael and his step dad was going to offer her a permanent place to stay in hopes they can keep her there till they figure out their mess.

But when Diana starts checking the books at the gallery one day and she notices some problems will she stay? Will Michael act on his feels for her?

This novella was packed full of information. If you haven’t read the other books in the series like me then some of the history of the other people were hard to follow along with. But the author did a good job to sum up each of the other characters. But I think by doing so with so many people it left for a hurried romance of Diana and Michael.

I received this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
